Paul and his young prodigies have had a busy fortnight competing and performing in a number of prestigious events.
On Wednesday 10th October, Paul took part in the Affiliated Dressage competition at Unex Towerlands in Essex, qualifying with an impressive 72% in the Advanced Medium category on Athanasio.
Bobby Allison and Laura South then put in sterling performances at Bluegate Hall Dressage in Essex on Saturday 13th October. In the Affiliated Dressage competition, Laura won the Novice Qualifier on Albertine with 74% and also came forth in the same division on Hillspitfire, owned by Paul's sponsor, Lexus. Bobby also came third in the Novice Qualifier with 71% on Wolkensee. In the Non-Qualifiers, meanwhile, Bobby won with 67% and Laura came second with 66%. Bobby is also celebrating coming forth in the junior section of the British Dressage Talent Spotting Finals at Addington Manor Equestrian Centre in Buckinghamshire on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st October.
Paul and Laura rounded off the team's hectic fortnight with their 'Dancing in the Moonlight' dressage to music recital at the Magic of the Horse show at the Towerlands arena in Essex. The brainchild of former Olympic dressage rider Tanya Larrigan, Paul and Laura, along with their respective steeds, Alfie and Dunkel, wowed the crowd with the moon - and candlelit performance.
"Both the afternoon and evening performances were packed," says Paul. "It was a wonderfully diverse event overall and it was nice to see so many other equestrian performers taking part - I'm keen to do another one! My performances went very well, although I have to say that the evening show was my favourite as the lighting was stunning as night fell." As a result of the show, Paul is also planning a special lecture and demonstration with Western Reining Magic performer David Deptford, with the pair combining their dressage and reining expertise - watch this space for further information.
Next on Paul's busy schedule is an appearance at the Magic of the Horse show, set to take place on Saturday 20th October at the Towerlands arena in Essex. This equestrian extravaganza is the brainchild of former Olympic dressage rider Tanya Larrigan and brings together a variety of top equine performers, including Tanya's very own Mini Marvels miniature horse long-reining display team and David Deptford's team of 'Reining Magic' Quarter horses.
Paul is also topping the bill with a 'Dancing in the Moonlight' dressage to music recital alongside rider Laura South. Paul, however, is remaining tight-lipped about his performance:
"Laura and I will be riding on two black horses, which should look absolutely beautiful in the moonlit arena dotted with candlelight. I don't want to give too much away though as I want to surprise our audience!"
