Donnimo leads Yellow assault

SENIOR INTER-REGIONAL, THE COLLEGE, KEYSOE, BEDFORDSHIRE 23-24 May

Extract from report by Ruth Pearce for Horse and Hound 28 May 2009

EASTERN region took the senior inter-regional squad competition for the first time, with Claire Parker and Donnimo clinching the honours for the yellow team. The competition is open to teams of four, with the three highest scores each day from each team combined over two days.

Yellow team moved up from third after the first day to win with 63.74 points. Wales Tywi were second with 75.56 and North-West Eagles third on 88.32. Claire and Donnimo also finished individual novice champions. The rest of the team comprised Kerry Allen and Don Ramiro (second overall at prelim); Elenor Dimant and Mr Kobayshi (fifth at elementary) and Michele Wyatt and Rockkefeller in action at medium.

Scores were tight and it all hinged on London inner-city school teacher Claire riding at the end of class, scoring 70.97% for victory.

Paul Hayler, the riders representative forthe Eastern region, said: "I worked out that Clair needed 70 per cent for the team to win, but I didn't want to put any more pressure on her, so kept quiet."
